Let's get the conversation going! Here are a couple of "Would You Rather" questions:

This week we ADVENT-ure in the story of Mary being chosen by God to be Jesus’s mom! This story can be found in Luke 1:26-38.

READ: Let's read the story for today!

This week we ADVENT-ure in the story of Mary being chosen by God to be Jesus’s mom! This story can be found in Luke 1:26-38.

ASK: Let's talk about it together!

This is a very special story! What stuck out to you most?
How would you react if you were Mary? Would you be scared to see the angel? Would you be excited?
Mary was chosen by God! How does it feel to be chosen for something? How did it feel? What happened?

ACTIVITY: Let's jump into this Outdoor (or, Indoor) Challenge!

Have you ever watched A Charlie Brown Christmas from 1965? It is the story of Charlie Brown and his friends looking for the perfect tree – and finding an imperfect one! It turns out, even the most imperfect tree did perfectly – and was the perfect tree for the job. This relates to Mary! She may have been imperfect (like all of us), but she was chosen by God for a very big job – just like we are! We are called by God to share the good news about Jesus every day. Watch the movie together if you can, or look at Christmas trees either in person or online. What makes each one special? Then, talk together about what makes each one of us special.

Let's close in prayer! Use this one, or say your own together.

Dear God,
You chose Mary for a very special job – to be Jesus’s mom! We thank you for Mary and for Jesus every day. We also thank you for choosing us to spread the story of Jesus in our own special way, using the special gifts you have given each of us. We love you, and we thank you!
Amen!
