Let's get the conversation going! Here are a couple of "Would You Rather" questions:

Let's Dive Into Mark 1:4-11!

READ: Let's read the story for today!

Let's Dive Into Mark 1:4-11!

ASK: Let's talk about it together!

Why do you think Jesus chose to be baptized by John, even though He didn't have any sin to repent of?
What do you think it meant for the people watching to see the Holy Spirit come down like a dove and hear God's voice from heaven?
God says of Jesus, "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased" — how does it feel to know God feels that way about His children, including you?
Why do you think this moment of baptism was such an important way for Jesus to begin His public ministry?

ACTIVITY: Let's jump into this Outdoor (or, Indoor) Challenge!

Head outside near water if you have access (a creek, pond, or even a birdbath), or use a bowl of water in the yard, and take turns gently pouring a little water over each other's hands while saying something you love or appreciate about that person. Talk together about how Jesus's baptism was a moment of God's love and approval being spoken out loud, and how we can speak words of love and blessing over each other too. Look up at the sky together and imagine the heavens opening, thinking about how close God felt to Jesus in that moment.

Let's close in prayer! Use this one, or say your own together.

Dear God, thank You for loving us the way You loved Jesus — help us to hear and believe Your words of love over our lives. Amen.
