Peter asks Jesus how many times he should forgive someone — up to seven times. Why do you think Peter picked that number?
Jesus responds with "seventy times seven" (or "seventy-seven times," depending on translation). What do you think Jesus meant by that? Was he giving an exact number to count to?
In the parable, the first servant owed the king an enormous amount of money — basically an impossible debt to repay. Why do you think Jesus made the debt so huge?
What's the connection between how much we've been forgiven and how we're supposed to treat others?
Do you think forgiving someone means forgetting what they did or pretending it didn't hurt? Why or why not?

ACTIVITY: Let's jump into this Outdoor (or, Indoor) Challenge!

Go outside and gather a small pile of rocks, with each person picking one rock to represent a time someone forgave them or they forgave someone else. Take turns carrying the "debt" of rocks in a bag around the yard or block, feeling how heavy unforgiveness can be, then set the bag down together as a symbol of letting it go. Finish by tossing the rocks into a garden, creek, or trash bin as a family, one at a time, naming (out loud or silently) something you're choosing to forgive.
