Let's get the conversation going! Here are a couple of "Would You Rather" questions:

Let's Dive Into Matthew 25:1-13!

READ: Let's read the story for today!

Let's Dive Into Matthew 25:1-13!

ASK: Let's talk about it together!

Why do you think the five foolish bridesmaids didn't bring enough oil, even though they knew they were waiting for the bridegroom?
What do you think it means to "be ready" for Jesus, and how can someone prepare their heart ahead of time?
How did it make you feel that the door was shut and the unprepared bridesmaids couldn't get in, even though they eventually got more oil?
Can you think of an example from your own life where being prepared ahead of time really mattered?

ACTIVITY: Let's jump into this Outdoor (or, Indoor) Challenge!

Go outside for a "Lamp Light" evening activity — as it gets dark, give each family member a flashlight or lantern, but secretly let a couple of them run low on batteries or "forget" to bring one. Take a short walk or sit outside together and talk about how it felt to be prepared (or not) once it got dark, connecting it back to the parable. Finish by having everyone check that their own "lamp" — a flashlight, lantern, or candle — is ready to go, keeping it somewhere handy as a reminder to stay spiritually ready too.

Let's close in prayer! Use this one, or say your own together.

Dear God, help us stay watchful and ready for You, keeping our hearts prepared so we're never caught off guard. Amen.
